As we dive into the season of giving, it's a great time to remember the propane industry can not only keep us cozy at home but can also light up the spirit of generosity in our communities. I have already seen lots of posts on social media about propane companies stepping up with food drives, charity events, and donations to local shelters. These kinds of efforts really show how our industry isn’t just about heating and cooking; it’s also about bringing people together and giving back.
This is great to read about and encouraging to see! Of course, the holiday season comes along with colder weather and last minute gas emergencies, so it can be a very fast-paced and stressful time for the professionals in our industry. Don’t forget about your employees and coworkers during this season! Take the time to check-in with them and see how they are handling the festive seasonal stress on top of the daily, regular demands of the job. Pause a second and remember to be kind to each other. Just as I constantly remind my four daughters, there is never a time when using your manners is inappropriate. A Please and Thank You can go a long way. Those five minutes talking to one of your teammates in the morning before everything hits the fan is what they will remember when they get home after they work a full day and go out on a late call!
If you are a manager or owner, your employees are your everyday Champions and the face of your company. Reward them when you can, especially if they are giving you a great look! An extra day off in the spring or a day off during the season to volunteer for something important to them can mean the difference in happiness or an #opentowork tag on their LinkedIn page! If you are a coworker, positive encouragement can make a world of difference.
This season is an invitation to get involved, whether it’s through supporting a local charity, taking part in a food drive or fundraiser, or just sharing your knowledge and resources with those who could use some help. Every little action can make a big difference and spread a lot of warmth.
As the year wraps up, I want to send a huge thank you for being part of our community and reading this when you have so many other things to do. I have been writing this now for a little over a year and have been blown away by the feedback I have received!
