I hope you connected with last month’s topic. We will continue this month with commercial connectors.

There are two main lines within the commercial foodservice connector sector by Dormont; Stationary and Moveable Gas Connectors.

Stationary Gas Connectors are flexible stainless steel connectors with yellow antimicrobial PVC coating designed to safely and cost-effectively install all types of stationary (fixed-leg or curb-mounted) commercial gas cooking equipment. These connectors are available in 1/2”, 3/4”, and 1” diameters and in various lengths.

The Dormont Blue Hose is a moveable-grade, braided, blue PVC-coated, 304 stainless steel commercial grade gas connector designed for use with moveable equipment and caster-mounted equipment that is moved on a regular basis for cleaning and repair. Moveable equipment is defined in ANSI Standard Z21.69/CSA6.16 as gas utilization equipment that may be mounted on casters or otherwise be subject to movement. It is manufactured with Stress Guard® technology which makes the hose easier to install and dramatically reduces stress on the hose ends. The stainless steel braids are tightly woven to prevent corrugations from stretching as equipment is moved. These hoses can be purchased on their own or as part of a kit with optional equipment included.

There are three main components to the optional equipment. Most commonly, when installing a blue hose connector, you should also be installing a restraining device. This keeps the equipment from pulling out the full length of the connector, which will protect it and any fittings from damage. Next is the SnapFast quick connect. This will allow you to easily and quickly disconnect the equipment in order to move it fully out of the way. This coupling contains a thermal shutoff feature which is a polymer ring located inside the nipple that will melt and close the gas supply valve if the temperature rises above 350°F. And lastly, is the Swivel MAX. This is a multiple-plane rotational end fitting that is used to increase movement at either end of the gas connector by providing 360° range of motion and greatly reduces the stress on the ends of the connector. These all can be purchased individually or as part of a kit.

The last two months have had a lot of information in them, I hope you found it informative and worth the read.
