The Gardner Marsh Gas Up - February 2026 Newsletter

If you know much about me, you know I have 4 daughters. Having 4 kids, it’s very apparent I LOVE dad jokes. It might be annoying to some, but it cracks me up. So this month let’s see if we can connect the dots on the various options for residential appliance connectors! See what I did there? Classic.

You have several options when choosing what to use for connectors. We are a stocking distributor of Dormont Gas Connectors, so lets cover their lines.

On the residential side, we offer five different lines to choose from, all with their own applications, features, and benefits. The options include standard uncoated stainless steel, yellow-coated stainless steel, high-temp black powder coated, high-btu high-temp black powder coated, and gray-coated high btu stainless steel.

The uncoated stainless steel is the base offering. These are durable, naturally corrosion resistant 304 stainless steel connectors for indoor or outdoor stationary appliance applications. These are the AP 10,20,30,40,50, or 60 part numbers. These are also known as the Dormont Supr-Safe® connectors. These are great for everything from space heaters to medium volume furnaces.

Supr-Safe Connectors

Next up are the SafetyShield® yellow-coated stainless steel connectors. They feature a premium antimicrobial coating to inhibit bacteria growth, improve corrosion and UV protection, and enhance flame and smoke resistance. These are going to be your 20C connectors. Safety Shield connectors are great for dryers and tanked water heaters.

Safety-Shield Connectors

For hearth products, we have two connectors that will work depending on the application. First is the 10A and 20A series which is coated with a high-temperature black powder coating that has a maximum temperature rating of 350°F. This coating is known as Low-Visibility Coating Technology. Dormont suggests using these with gas logs, fireplace inserts, free-standing fireplaces, and wall heaters. If you are having issues with appliances whistling while running, we have a solution in the Dormont Whisper-Flex connectors. They are engineered for high-temperature, high BTU applications with specialized corrugation that significantly reduces whistling from these appliances when operating at a low setting.

LV Black Coated Connector

Whisper Flex Black Coated Connector

The last product to cover is the ULTRAflow® High BTU Stainless Steel connectors. These are corrosion-resistant PVC coated stainless steel connectors designed with safety in mind. The heavy-duty gray PVC coating provides protection from weather, UV, and chemicals so it is great for indoor or outdoor use. These are commonly used on boilers, tankless water heaters, rooftop units, and mobile home gas meters.

UltraFlow Connector

Dormont has been in business for over 70 years. They operate out of a USA-based factory and manufacture to ISO standards. Their products all exceed ANSI standards and are leak-tested prior to shipping out to distributors. Dormont’s Supr-Safe®, ULTRAflow®, SafetyShield®, and LV Black Coated connectors all come with limited lifetime warranties. If you have any connection questions, please reach out to us, we’d love to connect with you! The March newsletter will focus on the commercial connectors.
